Dr. Aquila B. Massey and Anne R. Massey, both originally from Pennsylvania, lived in various places during their marriage including California, Kansas and Tennessee. Dr. Massey made an overland journey to California in 1849 during the gold rush, and worked as a doctor during the American Civil War in Nashville, Tenn.
