Granted by Castro (1) Sept. 25, 1835, 0.5 league, by name, and (2) Oct. 2, 1835, another 0.5 league, by name to José María Alviso. The occupation of the land had been granted by the Pueblo of San Jose in 1830. Claim filled by José María Alviso Mar. 30, 1852. Confirmed by the Board Mar. 14, 1853. Confirmed by the District Court Mar. 3, 1856, and Sept. 8, 1863. Appeal dismissed by the Supreme Court Jan. 11, 1869; the case was reinstated Jan. 21, 1867, and the survey confirmed Jan. 11, 1869, all by mandate. Patent issued to the heirs of José María Alviso June 30, 1871, for 4,457.66 acres. The patent is recorded in San Jose, Santa Clara County. No 138 General Land Office map. Bowman, J.N.
