Stand of Sitka spruce in depression among sand dunes. Beach pine (Pinus contorta) shown in northwest corner. Spruce on ocean side are dead from encroachment of dunes. Bay side of stand is practically pure beach pine fringed with willow. Samoa, Humboldt County. 5/27/15.
