Title
A bed of 2-1 Jack pines at the Bessey Nursery ready for planting in spring of 1924. The beds are 6 ft. wide, rows 6" apart and trees 1 1/2" apart in the row. Note the galvanized trough at the right into which irrigation water is pumped by a gasoline engine from the adjacent river. Flood irrigation is used, the water being taken from the trough to the beds in a big canvas hose 8" in diameter treated with linseed oil to preserve from rotting.
