Title
View of the Island in Silver Lake near Camp Califorest. Notice the dead Lodgepole pine on the borders in the distant background and the line of young Lodgepole pine on the Island marking high water. The camera was set up in a body of grass, shown in the picture, which grew as the water receded after the gates were opened to obtain water for the Spanish Peak Lumber Company's sawmill. The tree on the knoll of the Island on the right-hand side is a Jeffrey pine. August, 1926.
