Tree No. 1499. Holbrook Grove, Redwood Highway, cut early 1934 for road improvement. Remains of butt log, elliptical, being worked up into slabs for exhibits and signs. Stump of tree on slope above butt log. Leaned heavily due to land slides 160+ years ago. Buttress heavy with compression wood. 472 rings on long axis, 363 on short axis. 3-9-34, E.F.
